Engineering Use Policy

Version 1.0 — Effective September 24, 2026

CastPlan is a drafting tool for professionals. It is not an engineer.

1. Everything CastPlan makes is a preliminary draft. Designs, checks, calculation reports, placing drawings and bar lists are marked "AI-generated draft — not for construction".
2. A licensed Professional Engineer must review and seal it before it is used for construction, permits, tender or fabrication. In Alberta, APEGA's March 2026 guidance says registrants remain fully responsible for work produced with AI tools and must verify and authenticate it like any other work.
3. A qualified detailer must check the rebar drawings (for example an RSIC-certified detailer) before any bar is cut or bent.
4. Site data must come from the site. Soil bearing values, snow, wind and seismic data must be confirmed by a geotechnical report and the engineer of record.
5. Know the limits. CastPlan uses equivalent static lateral analysis and the Direct Design Method on regular grids. It does not design piles, post-tensioned slabs, transfer structures or irregular buildings. Where a check fails, the drawing shows it in red — do not ignore it.
6. Don't remove the stamp. Do not delete or hide the "not for construction" marking from drawings that have not been sealed, and do not call CastPlan output "engineered", "code-compliant" or "construction-ready".
7. Report errors. If you find a mistake, tell us promptly by emailing robertagarand@castplan.ai or using our contact form. We fix engine errors and publish each fix in our verification report.
